Upcoming releases for Winter and Spring 2024

Happy New Year!

Canadian publishing of books for young people, from babies and non-readers to early readers, middle graders, and young adults, is strong. Though we've lost some noteworthy authors, illustrators and publishers in the last few years, the industry continues to provide readers with fabulous stories for learning, for entertainment, and more. This new year looks like another amazing year of new titles, and I hope that, as readers, teachers, librarians, and others, you'll find at least a few tomes to enjoy in 2024.

What am I looking forward to reading? Well, if I had to name just a handful, I'd have to say:
  • Night of the Living Zed by Basil Sylvester and Kevin Sylvester (HarperCollins) >>> follow-up on the wildly successful The Fabulous Zed Watson!;
  • Professor Goose Debunks The Three Little Pigs by Paulette Bourgeois, illus. by Alex G. Griffiths (Tundra) >>> twisted fairy tale meets STEM;
  • Hugo’s Haunted Handbook by Dave Whamond (Owlkids) >>> I'm a big fan of Dave Whamond;
  • Someone is Always Watching by Kelley Armstrong (Tundra) >>> I love a good thriller!;
  • Waking the Dead and Other Fun Activities by Casey Lyall (Greenwillow);
  •  Song of Freedom, Song of Dreams by Shari Green (Andrews McMeel Publishing) >>> I'm always up for a new novel in verse, especially from Shari Green; and,
  • Two Pieces of Chocolate by Kathy Kacer, illus. by Gabrielle Grimard (Second Story Press) >>> a true story of historical significance and beautifully illustrated.

Whatever your tastes, our Canadian creators have got you covered. Enjoy!
